McKnight Fellowship Grant Received

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been awarded a McKnight Fellowship grant of $5,000 through the Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC).

This grant will help me learn more about working with paper fibers to create 3-dimensional work. It will allow me to take an introductory class on the paper making process at MCAD (Minnesota College of Art and Design) with Bridget O’Malley. Then I plan to incorporate this technique into the creation of new work combining paper pulp with wire mesh.

The addition of light weight paper pulp will give me the opportunity to build more complex forms on a larger scale. Equally as important, I’ll be exploring the use of flax and native plants including prairie grasses and wetland reeds in this process. Incorporating these native elements into my wire work is in harmony with my eco-printed work, making this collection an important artistic expression of the region’s natural environment.

Thank you, LRAC and the McKnight Foundation!
