Where We Are From is a an exciting new exhibit by SD8, a group of seven artists including Karie Amstutz, Anna Carlson, Diana Eicher, Marjorie Fedyszyn, Kristin Hoelscher-Schacker, Kristi Kuder and Deb Maertens. The exhibit will be on the second floor of The Phipps Center For The Arts October 23 – November 29, 2020.

Beyond spaces and places, Where We Are From illustrates how an individual’s past is also a part of the present universal human experience. It addresses how we draw on distant memories and recent recollections to understand who we are today. For this exhibit, each artist created work that originates in past experiences and speaks to what is universally human.

Among other new works, I’ll be showing WaterMark, a series of cyanotype prints formed from the waves and sunlight of Otter Tail Lake. Watch my process in this video.
